Creating a Bedroom Decor Wishlist
It seems as though everyone has the DIY bug at the moment. Spending so much more time at home over the past year has meant that we are all looking around and wanting to make our homes prettier, more organised or more comfortable. I already know what my dream boho bathroom looks like so thought I’d share with you some of the key things to think about when designing your dream bedroom.
Firstly, soft furnishings are absolutely essential when designing rooms but are often an afterthought. You could actually start with the rugs and cushions, working backwards to create a dreamy space, or you could update your bedroom with these. They are an easy way to create a whole new look without huge expense or effort. Rugs, in particular, can be a complete game-changer on the entire look and feel of a room. They create warmth and character or can even be the main feature of a space, so it is worth taking your time to choose one carefully.
Whether you are opting for a boho vibe, Scandi look or classic cottage feel, it will likely be your bedroom furniture set that sets the tone for the room. Again, it is worth spending time really deciding what you are looking for. Perhaps it is reclaimed wood or a minimalist style that you are after. Or perhaps storage is the key feature to look for when choosing bedroom furniture sets. Measure up your space carefully and try to visualise the look you want to achieve. Imagine your bed dressed in the beautiful soft furnishings you have in mind. You could even create a vision board to keep focused on the overall look you are hoping to create.
Another consideration could be to think about what you will put in the space above your bed. You may have a big, blank wall in your bedroom or even a chimney breast that could do with a feature being made of it. Large art prints can be really effective in pulling all the different aspects of your bedroom together. You may want to consider something beautiful that will make you smile each morning or song lyrics that have a special meaning to them. Whatever you choose, have it framed and in pride of place to help create the look that you are aiming for.
Finally, but absolutely vitally, plants should be in every room of the house. Not only are there tons of health benefits, such as improving the air quality of your home, but they just make every space feel so homely and welcoming. Contrary to popular belief, plants do not need to be high maintenance either. Succulents are hardy and pretty much look after themselves so can be a good option if you are new to plant care. Dried flowers are brilliant too. You can get them in all sorts of colours and arrangements and they need zero looking after. They are the perfect way to brighten up a room!
