Uhh another New Years post? Yeah sorry about that. There’s no ‘new year new me’ here though, more a reflection of the past year. It was a pretty crazy one, it’s so strange to think that earlier this year I was completing my dissertation (and in the midst of absolute third year hell) because student life seems so long ago now.

I can’t lie, my dissertation pretty much consumed the first few months of this year and it wasn’t particularly fun. It was stressful, I had many a breakdown but I did come out of university with a first class degree in fashion marketing. If any of you are going through this now, trust me, you do come out of it alive, just.

You can read about my university and career journey Part 1 here and Part 2 here!

I then started my first ‘adult’ job in marketing, and said goodbye to days spent lounging around watching Impractical Jokers and telling myself I was actually doing work. Pah. It’s been great to finally have a full time income, but I can’t say I’ve been the best at saving. I need to start getting serious in 2016 as I’m saving to buy a house with Charlie but I also want to have money aside to furnish it how I want, so yeah a lot less Asos shopping needs to happen.

In the summer I booked a 2 week trip to America with Charlie to Florida. I’ve been wanting to go there SO badly the past few years mainly to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. As a treat to ourselves for both landing new jobs we went ahead and it was an amazing two weeks. You can read my Harry Potter post here and my Florida post here. There are so many other places I would like to visit in the US, especially New York! I can’t believe I haven’t been yet, that’s definitely top of my list for next year. I’ve got to say though, Florida was a fun way to end the summer.

My only regret, although not so much regret as it was more due to the circumstances and university consuming my life, was the fact I didn’t travel as much as I had hoped to. The year was hectic and although I did take a couple of UK breaks alongside my trip to the sunshine state (to Center Parcs with my bestie and Bath with Charlie) I would have liked to have got on a plane more but that’s something to work on in 2016.

I think it’s good to look back at what you’ve achieved for the year, as so often we consider ourselves to be inadequate or achieving less than we had hoped for.  I’m so glad I managed to continue to grow my blog whilst at uni and starting my first job. I worked with some amazing brands and even got to collaborate with Topshop which was a total dream. Here’s to hoping 2016 is a good one!
