  >  Life   >  Save on eating out this summer with tastecard

I have to raise my hand and admit, I eat out FAR too often. I wish I loved cooking up a storm in the kitchen, but quite frankly, I’m no Nigella. Since having a baby, we also tend to rely more on eating out, saving us time, energy and the aftermath of washing up. It’s also a nice way to break the week up and escape the cycle of nappies and sterilising for an hour or two!

So as not to break the bank when it comes to my expensive lunch habit, I’m always looking for deals, voucher codes and apps for saving money when dining out. I find that the individual restaurant apps can be handy but it is a bit of a faff having so many different apps, so having everything in one place is super handy…and that’s where tastecard comes in.

I was really excited to find out about tastecard and their amazing deals on not only dining, but days out too, winning! Unsure whether they offered anything local to me, I checked out their participating Cambridge restaurants, and to my surprise, there was an abundance of both chain and independent restaurants in the area.

If you’re not already familiar, tastecard offers a staggering 2 for 1 in many restaurants, which makes eating out so much more affordable, especially in this cost of living crisis when my food bill has never been bigger. In fact, in many cases I think it’s cheaper to use a 2 for 1 deal than it is buying all of the ingredients to make dinner from scratch! And let’s face it, it’s always preferable to have someone else cook for you.

Where to use tastecard in Cambridge

As mentioned, many of our favourite chain restaurants are signed up to the 2 for 1 tastecard offer, this includes; Pizza Hut (I love their deep pan vegan pizza, and who doesn’t enjoy unlimited salad and soft drinks?!), Zizzi, Ed’s Easy Diner, and Bella Italia to name a few. Not only this, you can also receive discounts in other food establishments such as Caffè Nero, Domino’s,  Papa Johns and many independent restaurants too (just check what savings they’re offering and the days they participate!). The list of deals is really extensive and well worth it, if like me, you eat out regularly or even just enjoy a weekly takeaway – with the savings you’ll make you’ll soon pay back the cost of your tastecard and start saving some serious £££.

It’s not just Cambridge that benefits from an extensive list of tastecard deals, there are many restaurant deals in London, and other towns and cities across the UK, so it’s definitely worth checking out the participating restaurants, cafes and takeaway outlets in your local area.

Not just savings on food

Perhaps the biggest surprise, alongside the extensive list of restaurants, is the savings you can make on entertainment and days out! I had no idea that tastecard also offered so many amazing offers for attractions. This includes destinations such as Alton Towers (perfect timing as we’re planning to go next month and admission isn’t cheap), SEA LIFE, and Virgin Experience Days too. Fancy a bit of indoor skydiving? You can save up to 50% with iFLY indoor skydiving…I might just have to give this a go.

With an average saving of £23 every time you eat out, and plenty of savings on attractions, tastecard is an absolute essential for your summer and beyond! I’ve already saved a huge chunk of money, and Charlie is particularly buzzing about the 2 for 1 in Pizza Hut, allowing us to carry on enjoying our lunches and dinners out without the worry of going over our monthly budget.
