**This was a complimentary press stay**
You may have spied from my Instagram that I recently packed my bags and headed on a little road trip down to Shepton Mallet with my pal, Adele. I was kindly invited to spend the night at Charlton House Hotel & Spa to review the facilities and ultimately, relax! I love a UK trip, no airport hassle and stop-offs along the way to grab car snacks. We put a Spotify playlist on and enjoyed the three-hour journey down to Somerset.
The drive wasn’t bad at all, in-fact, it was actually quite fun driving around the countryside. We pulled up at Charlton House and the view from the outside is simply gorgeous. An old country house surrounded by gardens and greenery, lovely. We checked in and were given a tour of the hotel and spa by one of the friendly reception team who kindly took our bags. We were given a lovely surprise of a complimentary room upgrade which really topped off our stay!
Our room was fabulous, a two-story Moroccan themed suite with its own little courtyard which led straight out into the spa. We were both thrilled and couldn’t wait to jump into the hot tub which is definitely the star of the show at the spa. I kid you not, we spent over two hours in here discussing life and chilling out under the summer sunshine.
The spa itself is compact but has all of the essentials you could need; an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub and areas to lounge. The overall vibe is rustic Moroccan and it has a more traditional spa feel I would say.
After a couple of hours enjoying life in the hot tub it was time for us both to head through for our massages. We both opted for a full body which was oh so needed. I drifted off into a bubble of calm and didn’t want to leave! We both left our treatment rooms floating on clouds and headed back into the communal spa area for a dip in the pool and another session in the hot tub.
We almost missed our dinner reservation we were so relaxed, but we headed down to the hotel’s restaurant and were seated in a lovely conservatory area of the restaurant which overlooks the gardens. I was initially concerned regarding any possible vegan options but there are in fact vegan options on the menu and I enjoyed a delicious plant based starter and main course. The only little niggle is that there are currently no vegan friendly desserts, but I was offered sorbet.
In the morning we strolled back down to the restaurant for breakfast which was a real treat. I enjoyed a full-veggie breakfast which was veganised by replacing egg with avocado. There’s also a little buffet section with juices, cereals and jams. The perfect way to kick off the day. We then had one final visit to the hot tub (I know, we really did get good use out of the hot tub but it’s just so good!) before packing our bags and hitting the road.
Thank you to the Bannatyne team for organising our stay, we both had a wonderful time and I’d definitely recommend Charlton House Hotel & Spa if you’re looking for a relaxing and affordable spa break. Use my code tillyjayne20 for 20% off all spa bookings over £200!
