Being only a 40 minute train away from London makes it the ideal destination for a weekend away. Charlie and I try and spend a weekend in the capital every months if our schedules allow. We tend to book our hotel last minute (usually the day before) as it’s a much better way to bag a deal. Obviously if you need to plan in advance this might not be a viable option but for us living so near it works. London hotels are so, so expensive and we aren’t prepared to pay £400 for a room that’s barely an hour from our home! Back in December when booking our annual festive weekend I came across a steal at the M by Montcalm hotel in Shoreditch.

A room in this perfectly situated, beautiful hotel on a Friday night was just £140! This included use of the hotels spa and we were also upgraded to a junior suite for free on arrival. Don’t you just love when that happens?! I love staying in Shoreditch, it’s close to tonnes of amazing vegan eateries, cool shops, bars and it’s near enough to head into central too with minimal faff.

Perfect!

The hotel is just around the corner from the tube which makes it the perfect base for exploring London. I really couldn’t fault it! We arrived late Friday afternoon (hence the low light images, soz) and checked in for one night.

The bed was huge and super comfy, the room was spotless and the magazines were a nice extra touch. The room also has a funky lighting system so you can opt to have pink lights, red lights, blue lights and so on.

I also have to mention the spa! We weren’t expecting free access but luckily Charlie had eagerly anticipated a morning dip so we had packed swimwear. It was great to wake up and head down for a relaxing hour in the hot tub, sauna and pool. It really kicked the day off and made this stay such great value for money! Use of the spa I believe is free for all guests, although you will be sharing it with people who have just booked into the spa.

Overall a great stay and definitely somewhere I would book into again when stopping overnight.
