When Matalan contacted me about partaking in a students £50 homeware challenge I couldn’t wait to get involved! As a student, my budget is pretty tight which means accessories for my room isn’t top of my list of priorities. I do love interiors and I’m forever scrolling through pinterest and pinning inspiration to my boards (follow me here), so I was excited to go shopping!

Having recently re-decoared my room white it looked quite bare, I had two empty white shelves so I thought I would use my voucher to decorate them and make them look pretty! I picked up the adorable mini heart drawer unit. It’s so ideal for keeping things you normally use in i.e. hairbands and rings! Is it just me or do hairbands just evaporate into thin air?! I also bought the willow heart as it was only £4 and the silver vintage looking trinket which actually has a candle in it! When it burns out I thought it will be useful for holding jewellery.

The next thing I purchased were the get organised boxes. I thought they would firstly look good but also be good for things like make-up and pens/pencils etc. I love that they have a chalk board too (which I had far too much fun doodling on). I bought the candle holders that are sitting beside them as they matched the drawer unit and well, I thought they looked cute!

With my voucher I also bought these mongolian fur cushions as they’re so snuggly and make my bed look so cosy.

The final item I picked up was this coconut candle, it comes in a glass jar and was only £3! It smells gorgeous too so a great alternative to the more expensive Yankee Candles etc.

So I’m really happy with the outcome and how much just a few accessories can bring together a room! My room feels much more homely now, in total I spent £52 so not too bad at all. I would definitely recommend a visit to the home section of your nearest Matalan as it’s so affordable and I didn’t realise how many lovely little bits and bobs they have.

What do you think of my new pieces?
