  >  Travel   >  A Long Weekend In Berlin

Hello! So as you may have seen from my Instagram I headed to Berlin this weekend just gone with my best pal and soul sista Rosie. We’ve been wanting to go for ages so we were both pretty excited to hop over for a long weekend. We couldn’t believe how short the flight was, although our boarding passes suggested 1 hour 55 it actually took only 1 hour 20. The less the time I’m in the sky the better.

On our first full day we headed out for brunch at Spreegold and then over to Fat Tire for 11am. From a little prior research we heard that their city bike tours are a great way to see the most part of the city so we were keen to book onto a tour. We turned up at 11 and after a brief chat with our tour guide (who was SO knowledgeable) we jumped onto our bikes and set off. I was a bit worried I’d be awful and end up cycling into a car but I absolutely loved it, and the drivers are so used to cyclists in Berlin.

The tour is meant to last 4.5 hours which we thought seemed quite a long time (read: thought we would die cycling for this long) but it goes SO quickly and our tour actually ended up being more like 5.5 hours. On the tour we stopped at all the famous sites including the Brandenburg Gate, The Jewish War Memorial, The Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, Victory Tower, and loads more!

Halfway through the cycle tour we stopped off at this (slightly suspicious looking) beer garden in the middle of the park for much needed food and drink.
I can whole heartedly recommend their brownies.

I can’t recommend the cycle tour enough, if you’re only in Berlin for a few days it’s an amazing way to see everything you want to see, learn all about the history and just have loads of fun in the process! A few more snaps from our trip…

We popped into Do You Read Me? an amazing independent magazine store which I’d definitely recommend visiting if you’re into indie mags.berlin shopping street

If you’re ever in Berlin, you have to check out this amazing chocolate shop, Fassbender and Rausch. They do amazing chocolate and have sculpted all the major sites in Berlin out of chocolate. It’s pretty coolios.

We had a fab few days visiting the city, sightseeing, shopping and mooching about. We stayed at the Hotel Titanic Gendarmenmarkt which I couldn’t recommend enough! It’s five star so a little pricy but it was absolutely gorgeous, the staff couldn’t do enough for us and the room itself was spacious and super clean. The breakfast is pretty special too. We actually had a bit of a ‘Pretty Woman’ moment when we first arrived. All scruffy in our sweatpants (travel clothes obvs) and into this super swanky palace of a hotel. Oh and how could I not mention this dreamy marble and gold elevators?!
